Put the fire pump acceptance test steps in the correct order per NFPA 20 and NFPA 25, from pre-test preparation through final documentation.

1Run pump at churn (no-flow) condition and record churn pressure on discharge gauge

2Inspect suction supply — confirm water source is available and suction valve is fully open

3Open test header valves progressively to 100% rated flow while recording pressure at each point

4Verify fire pump room is complete — piping, valves, controller, and wiring installed per approved drawings

5Start pump manually from controller and verify rotation direction

6Verify automatic start on pressure drop — simulate low system pressure and confirm pump starts within 10 seconds

7Increase flow to 150% of rated capacity and verify pump meets performance curve

8Document all test results on NFPA 25 acceptance test form and submit to authority having jurisdiction
